Benjamin Woods (5/18 @ 12pm)
I had a great time talking to Ben this afternoon. He told us about how he will be moving to New York soon, and he is in the stressful) process of looking for affordable apartments in the city. We also talked about how Ben made the switch from economics major to political science major (and history minor), as he did not enjoy what he was learning in his economics classes and could not foresee himself being happy working in an economics field in the future. However, he also said he does not enjoy the political science major, but he appreciates the relatively easy courseload of the major to help boost his GPA for law school. Kylie and I also told Ben about how we are currently in Yosemite, and we had a few laughs about our experiences thus far. Overall, I really enjoyed speaking with Ben and I hope to talk to him again in the near future.

Mira Khosla Interview (5/18 @ 1pm)
Mira is so cool! I tangentially knew/heard about her since she is Hanna’s big, which got me excited to finally speak with her. We had really good conversations about our relationships with our bigs, and I found out Mira is in Chi Omega, and absolutely adores her big. She hopes to be as good a big for her littles as her big is for her (which I am sure she is accomplishing), but also wants to progress past the “big/little” relationship and move more towards close friendship with her big in her sorority and her little in Kappa Alpha Pi. I also found out that she will be living in the sorority house next year, which she was slightly hesitant about but is overall looking forward to. Finally, we also talked about her experiences as a Physics major and the differences between STEM and Humanities majors, and I found out she will be participating in research at UCLA regarding reaction time and VR technology. Mira was an absolute blast to have a conversation with, and I am so excited to hopefully speak with her again.

Michael Keily Interview (5/18 @ 2:30pm)
I had a great interview with Michael. We talked a lot about what we like to do for fun, and Michael informed me that he was never very interested in watching TV shows. I told him about how I like to play video games to relax and destress, and he told me that he also likes to play video games sometimes. He told me about one game he recently played, called Outer Wilds, and was surprised to hear that I played it too. We talked about our shared love for this game, and Michael told me about how the ending of the game empowered him to actually stop playing and learn something new, which is part of the reason he started playing guitar. We also talked about movies, and Michael told me about how he likes outer space movies, which had us talking about movies like Interstellar for a bit. Overall, I had a great time talking with Michael, and I hope to get to know him more in the future.

Ishan Chowdhury Interview (5/19 @ 4pm)
Aya and I had a great time talking with Ishan. We talked a lot about what we enjoy doing outside of school, and Ishan told us he used to play piano, and actually played in competitions. He played classical music. We also talked a lot about the differences between an in person and virtual pledge processes were, so it was interesting to hear about the creative techniques that are employed in our virtual process. I also found out Ishan is from Miami, so we have a common experience of being from the East coast. We are also both currently living in Westwood. We had a great conversation with Ishan, and I am excited to hopefully talk to him more in the future.

Josh Moon Interview (5/22 @ 5pm)
I had a great interview with Josh. We talked about, first and foremost, his time at Hangry Moons, which is my favorite restaurant in Westwood. It was really cool to hear about his time working there and how the restaurant has played a significant role in his life. He once gave me free food from Hangry, which I greatly appreciated, and I expressed this appreciation to him. I also talked with him about his activity within the fraternity thus far, and what made him want to join and how the brotherhood has helped in through college thus far. Overall, I had a great time talking with Josh and I hope to see him again in the future.

Lauren Salaiz Interview (5/23 @ 10am)
It was really cool to talk with Lauren outside the context of Membership Education. She recently went on a trip to Hawaii, so it was fun to talk with her about her experiences there and about how she enjoyed the trip in general. We talked a lot about her professional experiences, considering her knowledge on professional development. We also spent some time talking about her pledge quarter and her relationship with her pledge brothers, so it was great to hear more about brotherhood within the fraternity. I loved getting to know Lauren more and I hope to speak with her again in the near future.

Aman Sankineni Interview (5/23 @ 1:30pm)
I loved talking with Aman. I talked with him about his time with the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program, which many other members of the fraternity have also participated in. I also found out that we held part time jobs this past summer, so it was fun to talk with him about his experience working, even though he did not enjoy his job. Finally, Aman reassured me about some of my concerns for hell week, so it was good to have a last minute confidence boost. Overall, Aman was incredibly fun to talk to, and I am excited to speak to him again in the future.

Alejandro Salas-Villa Interview (5/23 @ 12pm)
Alejandro was so much fun to talk to. He has a really outgoing and charismatic personality, so it was great to finally be able to speak with him. I was hoping I would have the chance to talk to him this whole quarter, as he is one of the most senior Bitches, and I always love getting to know my family more. We talked a lot about a lot of the cultural organizations he is a part of, and I admired how involved he is at UCLA and his ability to socialize and be active in so many organizations. Overall, I enjoyed talking to Alejandro, and I hope to get to know him more and learn more about the Bitches.

Iris Hong Interview (5/24 @ 2pm)
I had a great time talking to Iris with Vidya. We talked a surprising amount about museums, and Iris told us how her mom used to drag her whole family to various museums, even though no one really enjoyed it. Vidya also told us how her parents would take her and her siblings to museums and then make them pick a topic from the museum and deliver a presentation on it, which I thought was hilarious. We also talked about amusement parks, as Iris recently went to Disneyland. She has plans to go back, although by the time she returns, the park will be open at full capacity and the lines will be much longer. Finally, we discussed the weather differences between the East and West coasts, and we agreed that weather is very formative of a person’s personality. Overall, I loved talking with Iris, and we had an amazing conversation.
