Mihir Rai Interview (4/21 @ 12:30pm)
I learned so much more about Mihir in our interview. He was incredibly fun to talk to, and we discussed a variety of subjects. We spent much of it talking about the dynamics of his pledge class, and how my experiences so far have lined up with his, especially considering his pledge class had many more members. We then discussed some ice-breaker type questions, where Mihir told me his spirit animal was a Chameleon, and informed me about Bushisms. These Bushisms are hilarious, and are basically just quotes from the ramblings of George W. Bush. We also discussed our favorite Marvel movies and the future of movie production, and found out that we both have a love for going to the movie theater. I am hopeful that I will get to speak to Mihir again in the future, and I’m excited to continue looking at Bushisms with Mihir in mind.

Suzy Kadir Interview (4/22 @ 2pm)
My interview with Suzy was very productive and I feel like I learned a lot from her. I found out that we are both Political Science and Psychology double majors, so she spent some time taking me through her workload and recommending classes to take from both majors. We then talked about her plans for after undergrad, because I was interested in her career path after learning she preferred psychology over political science. She said how she is debating between going into environmental law or criminal justice, but she is cautious about environment law because although she is passionate, she wants to be on the floor, in a courtroom. She currently participates in the UCLA Mock Trial team, and is excited for the team to continue in person next year. Suzy was overall a very passionate and informative individual, and I hope to get to know her better in the future!

Akunnia Akubuilo Interview (4/22 @ 6pm)
I had a very pleasant interview with Akunnia. We talked a lot about our family, considering we are both Bitches. She brought up the prospect of doing a double date with her and Kylie and me, Chloe, and Zz, which was exciting and I sincerely hope we are able to do something like that in the future. We also talked about the Pledge Social, which Akunnia thought was very fun and she enjoyed the activities. She also told me about the tragic story of her iPad, which recently had issues involving damage and quinoa that resulted in her having to take her iPad to the Apple store. I sincerely hope she gets her iPad fixed soon, and I cannot wait to be able to talk to Akunnia more in the future.

Matthew Lyou Interview (4/25 @ 10pm) I had a very good conversation with Matthew this morning. We talked a lot about the difference between living on campus and living in an apartment, and we discussed how Matthew felt about his housing situation, since he still lives at home while most of his friends live in Westwood. He said he doesn’t really have FOMO, and he knows that when he moves into an off-campus apartment, he’ll still have plenty of opportunities to spend time with friends and catch up on lost time. We also talked about my hometown and living in New York vs. living in California. I hope to be able to talk to Matthew again soon.

Peter Chelebian Interview (4/26 @ 2pm)
I felt like I got to know Peter much better after our conversation. At first, we got to talking about the pledging process, and he informed me that he gets along incredibly well with his big, Carter. They both have a passion for golf, a fun sense of humor, and other similar personality traits. Peter was the Brotherhood chair for his pledge class, so he talked to me and gave me advice about the responsibilities of the Brotherhood chair and told me what he did for his pledge class last quarter. We also talked about Mock Trial, as Peter is the co-director of Mock Trials. However, he told me that he did not do Mock Trial in high school or at UCLA, and was mainly involved in debate and Model United Nations. Nonetheless, Peter excelled at Mock Trial in his pledge class, which secured him his position as co-director of Mock Trials. We also talked about video games for a bit, and Peter told me he used to play Fortnite and Call of Duty, but has since lost interest due to the repetitive nature of the games. Now, he makes it a point to destress and play some games at least once a week, which I have enormous respect for. I hope to get to know Peter better in the future.

I really enjoyed talking to Hannah. We talked about a variety of topics, but one of the things that interested me the most was our discussion about Los Angeles and rich people culture. We also talked about our shared love for Yerba Mate, even though her favorite flavors are currently Orange Exuberance and Lemon Elation. Amy Vandyken interview (4/26 @ 5pm)
I really enjoyed talking with Amy, my grandbig. Nathan was also there, as it was a joint interview, and I found it overall to be very fun. We talked about many things, including her involvement in Unicamp, which she said was very influential in shaping her character in college. We also talked about all the jobs we’ve had before, as I was very interested to learn that Amy had worked at a boba shop for a long time. Additionally, she told me a hilarious story about her trip to a coffee shop where she (almost) was hired on the spot because she had an impromptu conversation with the owner. Overall, I am excited for Bitches hangouts in the future and getting to know Amy more.

Ranhita Bora Interview (4/29 @ 4pm)
I feel like I learned a lot about Ranhita during our interview. She told me about what it was like growing up in a Republican town in Texas, and how she was able to open up much more when she came to UCLA. However, she still felt very pressured to white-wash herself once she got here, joining a sorority for a month before realizing that she did not have to be that way. She also told me about her trip to Cabo, and told me about the resort she stayed at and the things she did there.

David Hernandez Interview (4/30 @ 2pm)
My interview with David was very eventful. We started off with him at a Macy’s, as he was picking up a gift for his Mom (her birthday is on Sunday). I recommended he buy her a pearl bracelet. We found out that we are both Yerba Mate ambassadors after he asked me what my favorite drink was. His favorite flavors are Revel Berry and Bluephoria. We also talked about living in California, as he is from Northridge and I told him about how I was born in the valley and moved to New York. We also talked about movies and TV shows, as he is a fan of Marvel and recently watched Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney Plus. David was definitely a very fun and talkative person, and I hope to speak to him again soon.

Jennifer Rhee Interview (4/30 @ 4pm)
I absolutely loved talking with Jennifer! She was a bundle of positive energy and good vibes. She told me about her older sister and we talked about our relationships with our siblings. We also talked about her outdoorsy nature and how she loves to spend her time in nature and enjoying her environment. We also talked about our plans for the future, and she said she would want to have one biological child, but if she wanted more, she would just adopt (she said she doesn’t like the idea of giving birth. We also talked about how she grew up in Hawaii and went to high school in Korea, and how that affected growth and her time at UCLA. I can’t wait to talk to Jennifer more in the future!

Sophie Zane Interview (5/3 @ 1pm)
Sophie was very relaxing and fun to talk to. She told me about her transition from STEM major to International Development Systems, and talked about the work she wants to do in either immigration law or public policy. She told me about the connections she made through Kappa Alpha Pi that allowed her to get an internship at the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program, where she conducted a literature review and compiled data. We also talked about the difference between an in person and an online pledge quarter, and she told me about how her favorite memory of the pledge process was the FRIENDS music video mission. Overall, I had an awesome time getting to know Sophie, and I hope to talk to her more in the future.

Ira Phatak Interview (5/3 @ 4pm)
I loved talking with Ira! We found out we both had a shared love for movies, so we spent some time discussing our favorites. She also told me about her job with the Elections Board, and how stressful this election season has been because of the number of complaints people have submitted and how much information she has to review. Although she loves her job, she is looking forward to the work to subside. We also talked about the importance of balancing your schoolwork and life responsibilities with your free time, as we recognized that having free time in your schedule to clear your head and enjoy life is incredibly important. We had a few philosophical discussions as well, talking about what motivates people to do certain things and how relationships turn into marriages and what to expect out of a partner. She also told me that if she didn’t have to worry about making money in the future, she would like to be a film critic, because she finds it fascinating to delve into the meaning behind films. I really enjoyed my conversation with Ira, and I hope to speak to her again soon.

Ria and I had a very productive conversation. She told me a lot about her major (public affairs) and how interdisciplinary it is. We then talked about what she wants to do when she graduates, and she told me how she either wants to do work with public policy or law. We also talked a lot about our respective mock trial experiences, and she told me about how she is both a witness and attorney for the UCLA Mock Trial team. She also told me about how she loves baking, and we talked about how she runs her own baking instagram account where she showcases her work, which I think is super cool. Overall, I thought Ria was a very sweet and fun person to talk to, and I’m excited to see her again next week for Mock Trial.

Chidi Omeze Interview (5/4 @ 5pm)
I had a great time getting to know Chidi more. We talked a lot about his plans for after he graduates. He plans on taking a gap year (or two, depending on how the first one goes) and hopes to have a job lined up shortly. If not, he will move to Maine with his mom, where she currently lives. He is currently preparing for his LSAT so he can apply to law school. We spent some time talking about our (lack of) free time, and how school has always been such a large part of our lives. We also talked about our interests for some time, and Chidi informed me that he loves fashion and expressing himself. We also talked more about his time at UCLA and about the dining hall foods, which got me excited to hopefully live on campus next year. I hope to speak with Chidi more in the future.
