Interview with Aman Sankineni 4/21/21
I had a fun talk with Aman today. We started off by discussing his Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics major. Aman was very frank about changing from a pre-med to a pre-law career plan, which was very informative as I review my own career plan. He also was open about sharing his experience working in a hard science lab, something I will likely not do in my time at UCLA but am still interested in learning about as part of the university ecosystem. We then talked about his experience as a legal assistant in a small firm compared to working in a public defender's office. It was really helpful to hear as I work on figuring out what particular field of law I may want to enter, along with emphasizing the importance of workplace culture. After talking about politics for a few minutes, he shared some insight about the process he went through to become an Eagle Scout, which led to a wider conversation about college admissions. We finished up talking about our thoughts on different foods and a really helpful Westwood burger recommendation. Overall a really great discussion!

Interview with Ria Debnath 4/22/21
Speaking with Ria today was an incredible pleasure. We had interacted briefly before, so it was nice to get to know her better through our conversation. We began by discussing our respective mock trial experiences in the winter and how our teams performed in the regional round. We also briefly discussed some of her other mock trial experiences, both at the high school level and through her own Kappa Alpha Pi pledge process. We then talked about her thoughts on the Public Affairs Major, which sounds like an incredibly relevant course for discussing and writing modern policy. The conversation then turned to our respective Cluster 70 seminars. Ria did an excellent job providing an explanation of quantum mechanics that I could vaguely understand, which is a vast improvement from my previous understanding of the topic. We ended our discussion on the topic of baking, a skill Ria has in droves while I am still learning how to use a measuring cup for a pre-prepared brownie mix. I truly enjoyed our conversation and look forward to using Ria's tips to take my baking ability to the next level.

Interview with Anita Ramasastry 4/22/21
Anita was an absolutely amazing person to interview. While our conversation began with discussing her coursework this quarter, my dog's need for attention pushed the discussion into talking about the vast differences between our respective pets. Hearing about Anita's family dog's outgoing nature placed my own dog's introversion and general distaste for going outside in stark relief. It was especially fun to hear about Anita making a presentation about the benefits and drawbacks of different dog breeds prior to getting her cocker spaniel poodle. The conversation then turned to her experience in Moorpark College's Student Leadership Forum and her personal contribution to campus safety through her development of an app through the Forum. We then discussed her decision to transition from a business focus to pursuing a major in Philosophy. I find that, as I attend more interviews, the number of majors and courses that I desperately want to explore grows ever larger. We ended our discussion on the differences she noticed between Moorpark and UCLA, along with some of the difficulties transfer students face. A truly insightful and informative interview that I thoroughly enjoyed!

Interview with Ira Phatak 4/23/21
I had a really nice interview with Ira today. We began by discussing tea (the drink) and I shared my reticence regarding using tea bags. While I currently cannot drink tea because of instructions from my dentist, I am definitely going to invest in a tea steeper once I can. Ira was then kind of enough to share her thoughts on USAC and her role with the USAC Elections Board. Her insight was very informative as I consider whether or not I want to try to become more involved with USAC in the fall. This then turned into a discussion on politics and society, which really helped me think through some of my own thoughts on the discussed topics. We then talked a little about Ira's French Minor and International Development Studies Major. She provided some interesting course recommendations for my upper-division political science classes. We ended by talking about her experience teaching piano to children. A really good interview overall!

Interview with Adrian Pagan 4/23/21
Talking with Adrian was an absolute whirlwind. We started by talking about The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which I have yet to watch the final episode of. We then talked about how Adrian was pursuing three majors, which I learned was through a middle college high school program. While I considered attending a similar program in my local area, I decided against it at the time; looking back, it would have definitely helped me get general education requirements out of the way so I would have had more time to explore majors like Adrian. We then discussed deciding to go into law and the pledging process. I finished the more serious portion of the conversation asking about his writing in the Journal on World Affairs. We then had a wide-ranging discussion on World War 2 history, potatoes, sports, and Star Wars. While I understand his ranking of the Star Wars movies, I will never be ok with it internally. Overall, it was a really fun interview!
