Interview with Akunnia Akubuilo: Tuesday 5/18/21
I finally interviewed Akunnia, my big. We just got some snacks and had a little picnic on Janss. I never get tired of talking to Akunnia! She is very protective and is always there for me. We always talk about how I'm feeling and how my day has been, which is so nice of her to ask. I tell her a lot about my roommate drama and she is so funny because she gets so mad about it too. She told me about the research she is doing about the psychological effects of oppression which she is presenting at undergraduate research week. Her only class this quarter is this research class. She also recently got a job at Zara! I really want to visit her soon and go shopping because Zara has such cute clothes. Everytime I talk to Akunnia I have the best time! She is truly the best big EVER!!!

Interview with Ben Woods: Tuesday 5/18/21
I had another joint interview with Eric where we got to interview Ben! Ben was super cool. It is crazy to think that he graduated and is part of the Alpha Theta pledge class, so he was saying that he held a lot of positions. He told us that he is looking for an apartment in New York since he will be working in the city! It was great to just chat about random topics such as joking about Eric's weird philosophy of only making himself happy even if that means sacrificing others. We also just talked about pledging in general and some different things Ben had to do when he was pledging in-person. Ben was overall so funny and great to talk to.

Interview with Aman Sankineni: Tuesday 5/18/21
It was great speaking with Aman today. He was such a funny person to talk to. He told me about his role as a legal assistant at an entertainment law firm. I thought this was cool since I am also interested in entertainment law. He also told me about what it is like having the MIMG major. It seems difficult to be a STEM major. He also told me a lot about his interest in shoes and showed me some. I am also very interested in buying shoes but I don't have a lot of money. In addition, we discussed various restaurants in Westwood and LA. We agreed that Westwood restaurants as a whole are not the best, so it is always fun to try new ones around LA. Overall, Aman was so great to talk to.

Interview with Claudia Marza: Thursday 5/20/21
Claudia was so nice! She is living in Boston and she loves it there. We talked about how different our hometowns are from LA. She told me that she doesn't want to go to law school, at least immediately after graduation. She does not want to take the LSAT. Instead, she plans to work for Teach for America. She also really wanted to study abroad but unfortunately did not have the chance to due to COVID. She has traveled to Berlin, Denmark, and London in high school, which is super cool since I have always wanted to travel to Europe. She also has family from Italy and her mom taught her how to make really good Italian food. She recommends any of the takeout spots at UCLA and to only go to De Neve for breakfast. Overall, Claudia was so cool and easy to talk to.

Interview with Aneri Parikh: Friday 5/21/21
I really enjoyed talking to Aneri today! We talked about pledging and how we both wish Vidya was in Westwood. She gave me a lot of restaurant recommendations around LA. We also talked a little about TikTok, and she said she had to delete it because she would go on it too much. She has had a busy quarter since she went on more trips, including Phoenix and the Bay Area. She showed me some of the cool tapestries in her apartment. I loved the Kris Jenner one and the one with Ravi from Jessie. Overall, she was so kind and great to talk to!

Interview with Jessica Cen: Sunday 5/23/21
Jessica was so sweet as always and I am so glad I could get to know her better. She told me that she used to be an Econ major like me but switched because she realized it wasn't for her. I am kind of in the same boat so it was nice to hear her perspective. She talked about what it was like living in Canada and how it's different from the U.S./LA. I also want to work with children so she told me what it was like being an Intake Intern for Alliance for Children's Rights which sounds inspiring. She also talked about how close she is with her pledge brothers. Jess was so kind and I will miss having her for MemEd.

Interview with Lauren Salaiz: Sunday 5/23/21
Lauren was also so kind and I was glad to know her better, along with Jessica. Lauren talked about her recent trip to Hawaii which sounded amazing. She went on some really cool hikes and even one that was illegal, but she didn't know it was until she saw cops that weren't letting people in. She said she saw a double rainbow which was so pretty, and I told her I recently hiked in Yosemite where I also saw a rainbow. She said that she has been trying to get her pledge brothers to go to Yosemite as well. Lauren was also so great and I will missing having her for MemEd, along with Jessica.

I finally got to meet my Grand Big Ale today (with my Big Aku)! He was so nice and I'm so glad I got to meet him. It really felt like I was meeting my grandfather. He told us about his night last night and he was so funny. He also told us about his pledging for his Latino Fraternity and how much he loves it. He also recommended applying to the Law Fellows Program. He also talked about how he loves dancing and his experience at a competitive performing arts high school. I am so glad I got to see Ale and I hope I can see him more in the future!

Interview with Josh Moon: Monday 5/24/21
It was a pleasure speaking with Josh. I was really thankful because one night at Hangry Moon's when I was with Akunnia he gave us our food for free! We talked more about how much I love Hangry Moon's and what it's like to own it/work there. He also told me more about his interest in photography. I thought the pictures on his photography account were amazing. He also talked about his experience as a Law Clerk for Veterans Legal Institute, and I thought this was a great organization since it provides free legal service to veterans. Overall, Josh was very nice to speak with!

Interview with Ishan Chowdhury: Monday 5/24/21
Ishan was great to speak to today! He talked about what it was like in Miami and said how the nightlife is very fun. I have always wanted to go to Miami. We also talked about amusement parks and how we enjoy rollercoasters, and he told a funny story about his younger cousin who fainted on a ride. We also have a shared experience of ziplining in a Central American country, his being in Honduras and mine in Guatemala. I was super jealous that he got to travel to Greece, Spain, and Italy since these are the top 3 European countries that I want to travel to. He told a funny story about being seasick on a boat in Greece and how his friend threw up off the top deck onto one of his other friends on the bottom deck. We also talked about his day yesterday since he played wiffle ball and football with some other actives and he saw my Big, Akunnia, right after I hung out with Aku. Overall, I really enjoyed my conversation with Ishan and I hope I can speak with him more if/when I cross.
