05/18 Interview with Naomi:
My interview with Naomi was a really great time! We started off talking about our shared experience with living on the east coast and how the lifestyle is a bit different when compared to the west coast. She told me how it was a bit more relaxed in the west and we agreed that the weather definitely has to do with that. I realized that the west coast lifestyle will definitely make me more relaxed and go-with-the-flow which I think is much needed. My favorite part of talking with Naomi was when she shared stories with Anita. They made me laugh so hard and it made me really excited for what life will look like next year when it is time to move and spend time with all the friends I have made. Naomi and I talked about how zoom school gives us so many misconceptions and I told her about how I thought Anita was 5'8 when really she is about 5'4 and we had a great time talking about other funny stories. Naomi shared some great advice for me- which is to make the most of these last few weeks and stay relaxed and build greater friendships with my pledge class. I will absolutely do just that.

05/18 Interview with Lefter:
My interview with Lefter was really nice! I had a great time listening about his time and experiences at UCLA as he is graduating this year. Lefter asked me about my interests and I shared with him some of my passions and pursuits for the future! He was really interested in the field of law I am hoping to pursue and we had a great conversation on what sparked the interest. Lefter gave great advice on opportunities I should get involved in during my time at UCLA- he especially told me the importance of internships! My favorite part of the conversation was when Lefter shared with me his current interests in investment and how that is what is he is interested in doing in the coming years. Lefter was so chill and nice to talk with and was so kind to ask me if I had any questions to always let him know!

05/18 Interview with Chidi:
My interview with Chidi was amazing! We started off by talking about the sociology major at UCLA and the courses within the major. I really enjoyed hearing about his experience with the major and the great lessons he has gained from it. I especially loved hearing about how the courses taught him how to communicate with different types of people and understand that issues are not black and white. Talking with Chidi definitely made me want to take some sociology courses ASAP. We also talked about the pledge process and some of the funny experiences that he had when pledging. He told me to enjoy these days and have fun before it is over. One of my favorite parts of our conversation was Chidi's advice on the 3 key things to balance in college: experiences, school, and having fun. We had a great conversation on how we only make time for 1-2 most of the time, but it is really important to make time for all 3 and learn how to live that balanced life. I really appreciated the advice Chidi gave and learning more about him!

05/21 Interview with Jess:
My interview with Jess was a great time. I always enjoyed Mem Ed with her, so it was great to have the chance to get to know her a little better during our interview. Jess is interning at an entertainment law firm and it was great to hear about what her daily tasks entail and the types of things she has learned through that experience. Also, Jess is a research assistant at the UCLA department of global studies which is really incredible and I hope to find a research position similar to that. Researching always seems so STEM-based, but it was great to hear her experience in the global studies department. I also loved hearing about her experience as an Intake Intern for Children's Rights- which is a field that I am also hoping to pursue in the future. Jess is really inspiring and I hope I can learn from her more throughout the pledge process.

05/21 Interview with Claudia:
My interview with Claudia was amazing. I had no idea that we had so many things in common and I had a really great time getting to know her. We talked about our shared experience of living on the east coast, especially while taking classes and going to a school on the west coast. We shared how mornings feel harder because there is not much to do but we are both trying to get back into running. It was nice to talk to Claudia about some of our work habits and favorite places to study. I told her about my obsession with Wegmans and she told me about some of the great places to study at UCLA. We talked a bit about the college application process and our high schools and it was crazy how similar of an experience we had when applying to schools and even the admission process. Claudia shared with me her funny interview stories and I told her how I would not have expected to receive a bid after my interview. She was really easy to talk to and I am so glad we had the chance to meet.

05/22 Interview with Josh:
I had a really nice time getting to know Josh. During our conversation, I was able to learn more about his experience as a Law Clerk and more specifically the type of law he practiced. I really did not know much about Veteran's Law but it was interesting to learn more about it. I especially enjoyed hearing about Josh's experience as a Philosophy major. Similar to other interviews, this discussion made me eager to take courses within the Philosophy department during my sophomore year. I enjoyed hearing about how his majors complement each other. I also enjoyed learning about his favorite moments within the fraternity and his advice for Hell Week. I am glad I had the chance to meet with Josh.

05/23 Interview with Lauren:
I had a great time interviewing Lauren. Lauren has really been a wonderful mentor throughout the pledge process as our Mem Ed teacher and I am glad I had the chance to talk to her a bit more. We talked a bit about her most recent trip to Hawaii and she told me about how her trip was and I was so jealous to hear how she was just able to lay in the sand for hours. I enjoyed learning about Lauren's experience as a youth advisor in San Diego County Human Services Agency. The tasks she completes are very interesting and meaningful. I really hope to receive an opportunity similar to this during my time at UCLA. It was inspiring to hear about the impact the department makes. Lauren gave great advice for the upcoming week and I hope I have the chance to meet and talk to Lauren because she was really great to talk to.

05/24 Interview with Iris:
I had a wonderful interview with Iris and because it was a group interview with my pledge brother Eric it was that much more wonderful. We started off talking about Disneyland because Iris most recently went there and told us how it was during Covid times. She mentioned how it was 20% capacity and I cannot even imagine how that would be because Disney is known for being busy. We also talked about museums and how we all grew up going to them. Eric mentioned some of the cool ones he went to and Iris shared how her mom enjoyed them. My favorite part of the interview was talking about the different coasts and lifestyles, weather, and growing up in different areas. Iris is from Chicago so it was interesting to hear about what the weather was like there. We also talked about Iris’s job at an entertainment law firm which is super cool. I really enjoyed meeting Iris she is really easy to talk to.

05/24 Interview with Anita:
Anita was one of the first people I wanted to interview so this was a long time coming. I had a great interview with my wonderful big Anita. Anita is the greatest big I could have ever asked for and I loved talking to her about how we both really wanted to be each other’s big/little throughout rush week. I told her how excited I was when she read my name during the Bid Ceremony and how I was nervous that I let her down during my interview. I loved talking about our families and funny stories because we have a similar relationship with our families. Similar to Anita, I have a very close relationship with my Mom and it was nice to talk about that. She told me more funny stories of her time in Westwood this past year and it once again made me excited to move next fall. I wish I had the chance to actually meet Anita in person, she truly is the best.

05/24 Interview with Lema:
I had an amazing interview with Lema! I was really looking forward to meeting her all quarter because she is in my line and really great friends with my G big Ranhita. I had a great time talking to her about how this past year being home has been and we talked about how weird it will be returning to school next year. We talked about how weird it will be to get ready for class and actually walk there. It was crazy talking about how weird this time is for little kids in 1st and 2nd grade because they probably have not learned all the important skills in the same way we did when we were growing up. I really enjoyed talking to Lema about our families and it made me happy to hear how close she was with Ranhita and Anita. During our interview, I also saw Ranhita and Aneri which was an added joy. Overall my interview with Lema was exactly how I thought it would be- a really great time.

05/24 Interview with Adrian:
I had a great time interviewing Adrian today. It was great to learn more about his experience within the Philosophy major and some of his favorite classes. I told him about my time in the ethics bowl and how it really shaped my interest and passion for Philosophy and Ethics. We were able to talk about some of my favorite cases, which was a great time. Adrian recommended some classes for me to take and it definitely made me want to add the minor on. We talked about Ariana Grande because we both love her and it was fun to tell him about the concert I went to. We have similar favorite songs and have enjoyed positions so far. I am really glad I had the chance to meet with Adrian and I look forward to hopefully talking to him again soon.
