5/6 Interview with Michael Nazar
It was super great to speak with Michael today! We spoke for a while about all sorts of different things. I was able to hear about his wonderful time as an NSA, which was funny because I actually remember some of the events they put on at the time back in 2019. It sounds like such a fun position to have. He also told me about his trips all over Europe after high school, after going on a Birthright Israel trip. He also told me about his conflict in career aspirations, and how if he had the choice, he would be a high school history teacher of all things. We also spoke about what shows and music we liked which was fun, and Michael gave me a lot of TV recommendations. Overall, I really enjoyed our conversation.

5/10 Interview with Mira
I loved speaking to Mira today! It turns out she was actually at home, surprise visiting her parents for Mother's Day. She told me how they went to this nice restaurant with a super nice view of the ocean in Santa Cruz. I learned that Mira likes being down in Los Angeles as it's a bit warmer for things like swimming than further up North and that she enjoys some other outdoorsy things like hiking when it's not too smoggy. We spoke a lot about friends, first impressions, being awkward, and trusting people. It was a really interesting conversation as we seem to have a lot of the same perspectives, and are both very jealous of natural conversationalists. It was really fun talking to Mira.

5/10 Interview with Matthew
It was so great to get to know Matthew better today! We spoke a lot about a bunch of different things and I definitely feel like I know him a lot better now. I asked him his MBTI type, as I feel like I can get a better sense of people by knowing their MBTI, and it turns out he is an INTJ! It was interesting cause it means we're actually pretty similar as I am an INFJ. I got to ask Matthew about his minor in geography and why he chose to minor in it too, and we had a whole interesting conversation surrounding one of his classes. I also got to ask him about his fall internship, and it was useful because it turned out he actually really didn't like the internship for various reasons. I am so glad I got to ask him about it as if I were to apply and not realize some of the stuff he complained about, I would have been stuck doing something I didn't like for a few months. I love the calm vibes of Matthew, and he was great to talk to.

5/10 Interview with Chidi
I loved being able to interview Chidi today! He was so fun to talk to as he has so many cool interests. It turns out he is super into fashion, particularly streetwear, and also music (particularly singing and most making music with a mini-keyboard!). If he could, he would enter the entertainment/music industry, but if not would go into law and then definitely entertainment law if possible. I love how creative Chidi is and it was so nice to hear him speak about his passions. He is currently looking for work for his gap year, hopefully in the entertainment industry to get his foot in the door. I learned that Chidi hopes to stay in Los Angeles forever as loves the atmosphere here, particularly with all of the funky people. This interview with Chidi was so great!

5/10 Interview with Anita
It was so nice to speak with Anita today in a joint interview with Zz. We got to hear all about Anita's crazy roommate experience and I am so happy that she is going to have different roommates next year. It was interesting to hear about Anita's experience transferring during the pandemic, and how she was so glad she joined Kappa Alpha Pi so that she could meet people during the online environment. She also talked about the irony of UCLA's image of being a transfer-friendly school but giving little support to transfers upon arrival. I got to hear about her unique experience of being a Title IX advocate at her community college and about working alongside lawyers with students. I was so inspired by all of her work as it is seriously impressive.

5/10 Interview with Carter
It was great to be able to speak with Carter today and get to know his interests/work better! It turns out he is super busy at the moment but I got to ask him about his work as a research assistant for Trial Partners, Inc. I also got to ask him and hear about his work experience in the District Attorney's Office. I was also able to hear if Carter actually does like Mexican food, and ask about some of his favourite restaurants, too. It was super cool to interview him and learn about some of his recent experiences.

5/11 Interview with Akunnia
This morning, I got to interview Akunnia! It was so great to finally speak with her and we had a fun conversation. I got to learn a bit about her first-year experience vs. high school. A lot of our conversation was actually about our similar views in relationships which was interesting - we have both decided that a wedding to oneself is a fabulous idea. I also learned that Akunnia hopes to visit New York soon (but not to live there), and that over the summer she hopes to work a job, do an internship, and work in her Dad's law firm! At the moment, she works at Zara (which has already given her an interesting fainting experience). The conversation flowed so it was super easy to talk to the lovely Akunnia.

5/11 Interview with Connie
I loved speaking with Connie today! It was so much fun. It was really cool to hear about some of her brief time in Hawaii, and then about moving down to Westwood for the first time. She definitely seems like she likes adventure. Connie has also convinced me to go to Dip n' Mix to get an Acai bowl as it sounds absolutely delicious. Both of us bonded over the fact that we don't have cars here and that it is sometimes frustrating because we can't go to all the places we want all the time. I think if both of us had the choice, we would go to the beach/a bunch of cool restaurants outside of Westwood more often. Overall, it was really nice to speak with Connie.

5/11 Interview with Megan
I had not spoken to Megan much previously but it was so great to get to know her! It turns out both of us really want to travel around a bunch in the future. In particular, Megan wants to visit Vietnam with her family, and then visit other places like Japan/Spain/Portugal with family or friends. We also spoke about Geography for a bit as I asked her about what classes she unexpectedly loved. I loved that she ended up loving Geography as it has always been one of my favorite subjects! We also talked about what we want to end up doing in the future, and it turns out Megan is really passionate about social change, but that she isn't entirely sure what she wants to end up doing. I had a great time!

5/14 Interview with Chanel
It was so lovely to speak with Chanel! I was able to ask Chanel about her recent trip to Portland and then Seattle. The trip sounded insane and I am very jealous. Chanel has absolutely convinced me to go in the near future, particularly for the Voodoo donuts. I was also able to ask her about fashion and it turns out a lot of her iconic closet was actually her mom's. It's cool how Chanel also likes to thrift, and she recommended the Rose Bowl thrifting pop-up. It turns out we eat really similar food too, and Chanel has inspired me to make my own hummus!! It was so great to finally speak with her.

5/15 Interview with Lauren
It was great to be able to speak with Lauren outside of Membership Education! I always love going to MemEd because Jessica and Lauren create such a lovely atmosphere, so it was really nice to get to know some of Lauren's interests outside of it. I was able to ask her about one of her most recent work experiences as a Youth Advisor for the County of San Diego. I had never heard of such a program prior, so it was interesting to hear how they try to empower youth and grow their leadership skills. I was also able to ask her about her work as a research assistant for UCLA REPS Lab. I found her work to be absolutely fascinating. It was great to speak with her!

5/15 Interview with Jessica
I loved being able to get to know Jessica better. It was great to be able to ask her more in-depth questions about her current position as a legal assistant, as I remembered her speaking about it in membership education but I didn't know the specificities. The conversation definitely made me consider my options for the future, and I definitely very grateful that she shed some insight into her experience. It was also super cool to talk to her about her position as a research assistant for UCLA Department of Global Studies. I am now inspired to pursue research opportunities in the fall upon return. Jessica's advice was super useful.

5/15 Interview with Julia
It was wonderful to speak with Julia! I was able to interview her with Zz, and we asked her all about her position as a project liaison director for USAC Community Service Commission. It was definitely interesting and I learnt a lot as prior, I had limited knowledge on the inner workings of USAC. It was also interesting to hear about how such a role works and how it is carried out effectively online. We also talked about fashion for a while as Julia is super into fashion. I also got to learn more about her interest in entertainment law, and why she wants to enter that area of law in particular. I definitely feel like I got to know Julia better.

5/16 Interview with Aneri
Aneri was so fun to talk to! I was able to meet Kris Jenner and hear about how Aneri and Kris met. I also got to hear about Aneri's super awesome position as an intern for Planned Parenthood. I have a lot of respect for Aneri's work as I believe it to be very important in minimizing women's health inequalities. It was great to hear about some of the further specificities of the work that she was able to achieve. I was also able to hear about her work as a legal assistant, and I now feel as if I have a very good idea of what such a position entails (particularly after asking other actives about similar legal assistant positions, too). I was able to hear about some of Aneri's other passions too and overall it was a really enjoyable, informational interview.

5/17 Interview with Adrian
I finally was able to speak with Adrian! I was able to speak to Adrian about all sorts of things, and although we do not have that much overlap in movies and show interest, we definitely share a common love for coffee! I learned Adrian likes Marvel movies, as well as rom-coms. He expressed that (inspired by one of his favorite movies) if given the opportunity, he would run away to Italy and fall in love and drink Italian coffee every day. I also was able to ask Adrian about ultimate, and he told me that they all have their own nicknames and that his is "Mr Sandman", inspired by a story that he told the members of the team. We also talked a lot about upbringing and 'other-ness'. It was definitely interesting to hear about his perspective and his unique high school experience. I really enjoyed our conversation and it actually ended lasting 2 hours!
