5/6 Interview with Chanel:
Chanel was super nice and was so easy to talk to! I loved getting to share what life on the hill has been like and telling her all about the food I eat here. Somehow we got into the conversation of famous people near us and TikTokers that walk around near campus which was really funny and I got to tell her about how Noah Beck was at Dip n Mix like two nights ago. This also led to me getting to tell her about the story of how I saw/met four of them in a day over Spring Break. It was really interesting to hear about what her life was like living in Huntington Beach and her high school since I was able to compare it to mine back home. My favorite part was when I found out that we've both attended Korean school through a church when we were younger and I felt like I was able to relate to her about our lack of fluency :'). I got to share my vacation experience there and some of my family beef. She promised to tell me about hers so I'll be waiting! I really enjoyed the interview and had a great time!

5/8 Interview with Ria:
I got to speak with Ria (with Nathan) and it started off really funny because she asked us what we had eaten that day and I had woken up right before the interview, so I hadn't eaten anything yet. That led to our conversation about how we like our sandwiches and our thoughts on places like Starbucks and Panera. I really liked when we got to talk about our high school experiences and found that I went through a similar dynamic as Ria with mostly white students and teachers. I was glad we agreed that a lot of white woman English teachers can be problematic. We also talked about books and shows we like. Nathan and Ria are both into Shadow and Bones, which is something I need to start reading/watching, but we also talked about the Percy Jackson series and how we like Gossip Girl. After that, Ria gave us some really good advice about the pledge process and I was able to share my thoughts on how it's been going so far. I hope I get to speak with her more in the future!

5/9 Interview with Mihir:
Mihir was very easy to talk to and the interview was really interesting to me. We talked about how I'm going to be missing the banquet (which hopefully I'd be a part of if I cross) since it's on the same day as my sister's wedding. I learned that he's from Dallas, Texas and we got to talk about any differences we've noticed with the people in our hometowns compared to over here. There was some Huntington Beach slander which is always appreciated. It was also cool to hear about his trip to Portland and Seattle. He told me about how the people there are really nice and how he got free Voodoo Donuts. After that, we discussed the upcoming Friends theme song mission I have to work on and I got to learn about some of his own pledging experiences and relationships with his pbros. I had a great time speaking with him!

5/10 Interview with Matthew:
Matthew is a real one. I always love talking to him so this interview was honestly like any of the other conversations that we have every day either over text or facetime. I found out that we had actually texted the same exact phrase at almost the same time (something I texted him and something he said to another person). I feel like that shows how much we're on the same wavelength with each other. We talked about my last mock trial meeting tonight and how we're going through a practice run-through. I was telling him about how I'm a little nervous about making everything fit together, but he was really assuring and made me feel a lot less worried about the presentation on Friday. It's always fun to talk to him and I feel like we literally share so many of the same opinions. 4liferssssss <3

5/10 Interview with Julia:
I really loved speaking with Julia because she was super nice and very friendly. I feel like I got to know her a lot better and we got to speak about a lot of different things that she's interested in. We talked about how she's from the Bay area and what her high school experience was like over there. I was able to share what my own experience is like being out of state and we also got to talk about clothes a lot. She recommended different stores and brands that she enjoys which was really nice since I've been looking for new places. Lastly, we also spoke about classes since she is a Public Affairs Major and I'm thinking about switching into it. She told me a lot about the different PA courses she's taken and which ones are her favorite. Overall, I really liked speaking with her and hope to get to know her even more later!

5/10 Interview with Maxine:
I had a really great conversation with her and I feel like we got to speak about really important issues that we're both passionate about. We spoke about my upcoming mock trial presentation for a bit and I got to tell her about how that has been going. We also talked about some of the funny aftermath presentations that have happened and I learned that she's pretty good at picking up on different languages which is an ability I wish I could have. This led to our conversation about how we're both not super good at Korean and we had a really meaningful conversation about the Asian American identity and what it means to us. I love that we both agree that the term "whitewashed" that a lot of other Asian people like to use is problematic. It was also really nice to learn about her feelings regarding cultural connections as someone who is half Korean and I enjoyed sharing our thoughts on Asian activism and the politics surrounding the recent rise in Asian hate crimes. I hope I can get to speak with her more about this in the future!

5/11 Interview with Aman:
Aman is a very funny individual. I enjoyed our interview a lot and it started off interestingly because he told me about how he was watching the Snyder cut last night, which reminded me to watch it since it's been on my list, but it's so long that I've been too lazy. I was surprised to learn that he was the mock trial director for the Alpha Nu class and was able to learn some very valuable advice regarding the Xi's upcoming presentation this week. I definitely feel like it'll help me for Friday! We were able to talk about how I'm excited about the banquet (if I'm able to cross) but am sad since I'm going to be at home for my sister's wedding. He was able to tell me about how fun it's supposed to be and how the last in person one was for his class. We had some technical difficulties during the interview, but it was really nice to speak with him!

5/11 Interview with Hannah:
I loved getting to speak with Hannah and felt like she was really easy to talk to. It was funny because we both share a love for Juquilas and both into astrology so those were some interesting conversations we were able to have. I also got to hear all about some of her relationship stories which reminded me of some of my own experiences that we discussed. I felt like I got to know her a lot better through hearing about it. I also got to learn more about her own pledge process and how she would perform her aftermath which was funny to learn about. She was very nice and I feel like we like to talk about the same things. Hopefully I'll get to talk to her more in the future!

5/11 Interview with Lefter:
I had one of the most interesting conversations with him and I feel like we were constantly jumping into different topics which I had a fun time doing. I was able to hear about his law clerk experience which was really helpful for me and we talked about our other interests and found that we have a lot of similarities in the anime and music that we like. I think I convinced him to start watching hunter x hunter and learned that he likes Doja Cat a lot. It was also really interesting to learn about his pledge process since he's the oldest member of the fraternity right now. We also talked about how good the Rolling Loud lineup is and how we both want to go. Overall, he's a very kind and inviting person so I hope I get to know him even better!

5/16 Interview with Jessica:
Jessica is such a sweet and kind person. I mean I already knew this because of all of our MemEd meetings and how much she and Lauren do for us, but getting to speak with her just solidified this even more. I got to learn a lot about what MemEd directors do to prepare for our weekly meetings and what made her decide to take on this position for the Xi's pledge process. She was able to tell me about her own meetings that were in person during her pledging which honestly sounds like a fever dream because we haven't been in person for so long. She was able to give me lots of really useful professional and pledging advice that I really appreciate. She's super nice!!

5/16 Interview with Caroline:
Caroline was literally meant to be my co-little. I feel like we're different parts that make up who Matthew is and just like with him, we're on the same wavelength most of the time. It's really easy to talk about anything with her and we have a lot of the same interests. One of the best things about her is that she appreciates the literary wonders of the Percy Jackson books which is how I know she has taste. Part of our conversation was about how she's a foodie and is good at assembling her own charcuterie boards which is a skill I want to learn. This led to our discussion on the name of our family, Tub Tubs, which we think is cute but needs to be changed. It reminds me of the Teletubbies.

5/17 Interview with David:
I'm really proud of myself for waking up this early for an interview because I tend to oversleep, but speaking with David was a great way to start my day. I found out that he's a yerb ambassador (shocker) and learned that I was done dirty by whoever chose to give me the orange flavor in the bag that we all got when we received our bids. That was the first yerb I'd ever had, which made me think I wasn't going to like any other flavors. We also discussed our mutual love for the movie Ratatouille and he told me a crazy theory he heard about Remy that actually makes sense. We debated if retail jobs are worse than food industry jobs to which he came to the conclusion that retail can be as bad as food, but never worse which I agree with. I feel like David is the type of person to be able to switch topics really easily when talking to someone.

5/17 Interview with Suzy:
Suzy has successfully moved getting a tattoo and more piercings up on my list of priorities. I had a lot of fun talking to her about dyeing our hair and the different kinds of tattoos/piercings that she has. I'm glad someone else thinks tramp stamps are cute and I got to see her ear piercings. She also gave me her personal thoughts on the different dining options on campus which makes me excited to try them next year. I also got to hear about how there is a vegan/vegetarian group in the fraternity where they eat out together. I'm glad that we're also both fans of dinosaurs (rawr) and I think a tiny dino tattoo would be super cute. For now, I shall put my hello kitty tattoo plans into motion. I had a really nice time speaking with her!

5/17 Interview with Lillan:
I feel like Lillan is one of the most chill actives I've gotten to speak with and it was really easy to talk to her. She's part of Tub Tubs so I'm not really surprised. Anyways, I got to learn that tomorrow I'll be able to see her new hair since she got it dyed blonde today. I'm actually excited to do my aftermath tomorrow just so I can see her new hair since I feel like it'll look really good. Other than hair, we talked about how I've been trying to think of better names for our fam and how pledging has been going. We shared our thoughts on Panhellenic greek life and Asian greek life here which turned out to be similar. I'm glad someone else is a fellow appreciator of the UCLA subreddit. We also had a really funny conversation about dating apps and men. I can't wait to see her in person for our family hangout!

5/18 Interview with Carter:
Carter is quite a character. We were able to have a very nice discussion about his taste in movies and shows. It was very funny to learn that he also likes the movie 21 Jump Street. I feel like he's someone who's always full of jokes, but is still nice. He was really confused at first because I did the interview at Connie's place and was borrowing her computer, so he thought she had joined the interview since I was doing it through her zoom. However, she was actually fast asleep. Anyways, he seems like someone who works a lot and I always do appreciate a fellow Rihanna fan.
